About Angela & Village Bodywork

is a 3rd generation Los Angeles native. A performer and dancer from childhood, Angela went on to attend UCLA earning a BA in World Arts/Dance and Women’s Studies. In one way or another, Angela has spent her life as a student of the body and its expression. In 2005, her journey as a bodyworker began. Her passion for investigating how the body and nervous system work inspires her to continue learning new and more effective ways of working. Investigating the entire structure, listening to the client’s story and giving verbal feedback are all absolutely essential to her work.

ANGELA DROWN, CMT

“Massage therapy at its best creates a space allowing the body to find its own harmony. I help create space and awareness.”

The philosophy Angela applies to her bodywork is the same that she applies to life. Be gentle with yourself, find flow, softness, movement, playfulness, and ease.

In the future Angela hopes to extend her practice to include companion animals, as she is passionate about animal rescue and welfare.

FAQs

Where is Village Bodywork located?

Angela and her practice are based in Los Angeles. When you book a massage, you can choose to go to her or have her come to you––if you live within the Greater Los Angeles Area. Travel fees vary by distance.

What do I need for a home visit?

I bring everything that is required including table, sheets, lotion, table warmer, pillows and bolsters. The only thing you must provide is an easily accessible space adequate for a massage table (minimum 5x8ft). If you have your own supplies, you may have all or part your travel fee waived.

What do I wear?

Generally, you may disrobe to your comfort level, as draping will keep you modestly covered. Certain modalities or concerns may require various levels of comfortable clothing.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

To avoid a cancellation fee, please contact Angela 48 hours before your appointment. If you cancel within 24-48 hours before, a 50% charge applies. If you cancel within 24 hours, the full appointment charge will apply. Payment is due before your next appointment.

If you are sick, please notify Angela as soon as you aware of your condition. If this occurs within 48 hours before your massage, the cancellation fee may be waived.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, an appointment is required.

What can I expect from a session?

A typical session will address the whole body and will include a combination of modalities, unless otherwise indicated. Angela typically offers verbal feedback regarding the clients needs and offers a variety of things to investigate beyond the session.

What if I have a pet?

Angela is an avid pet lover and will probably offer your pet a mini massage if they are up for it. However, if your pet may be disruptive or aggressive it is advisable to separate them from the treatment area.

What is visceral manipulation?

"Visceral Manipulation (VM) is a modality that assists functional and structural imbalances throughout the body including musculoskeletal, vascular, nervous, urogenital, respiratory, digestive and lymphatic dysfunction.  It is an organ-specific fascial mobilization technique that evaluates and treats the dynamics of motion and suspension in relation to organs, membranes, fascia and ligaments. Tissue tension lines can cause pulls on the musculoskeletal system.  By connecting with these tissue tension lines to facilitate release, VM is often the missing link in chronic orthopedic dysfunctions that have not responded to standard rehabilitation protocols. VM increases proprioceptive communication within the body, thereby revitalizing a person and relieving symptoms of pain, dysfunction, and poor posture." For more info, visit the Barral Institute

How do I book an appointment?

Call, text or email Angela to inquire about availability: Contact Info

Angela is unable to accommodate same day requests at this time. It is recommended that you book approximately 1 week ahead of time, and new clients will need to fill out a questionnaire upon requesting an appointment.

Can I get a massage at any time during a pregnancy?

Yes! However, during the first trimester and/or any high-risk pregnancies, a doctor’s permission is required.

What products will be used?

Unscented lotion and crème. If you have any particular requests or sensitivities please indicate on your intake form. Angela also is happy to offer custom blends upon request.

What is craniosacral therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch manual therapy that works with the body’s self-correcting mechanism to affect multiple structural and physiological systems in attaining greater health and well being. As the name implies, it involves mobilizing restrictions within the cranium and the sacrum. However, because of the anatomical and physiological connections, it is really a whole body approach. It is practiced by various healthcare professionals. (Mariann Sisco, PT, CST-D)
